Scenic Drives and National Parks

Pictured Rocks, Munising, Michigan
One of the many “pictured rocks” along the Lake Superior shoreline in Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore Park, in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula

Everyone knows about Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon. We don’t serve our purpose by covering these scenic and exceptional national treasures in our pages. What we would like to do is acquaint you with some of the lesser known but interesting and scenic places within the National Parks system. One advantage of these lesser known national parks is that you have a good chance of getting to enjoy them without fighting for a parking space or camping space at the campground. I remember the year we visited Denali National Park and being in the Visitor Center waiting in line to get information about the park. It was like we were at a busy urban airport, people bustling about everywhere.

We’ve got lots of parks in our trip records inventory from our past trips, but the issue of time and energy limits how fast we can get pages or posts filled to better acquaint you with them. 🙂

Our directory on this page will include all the parks we’ve visited. As time and energy permits we’ll annotate the directory with links to articles and posts about each scenic attraction.
